MIRAMAR PROBATE LAWYER

A Miramar Probate Lawyer You Can Trust:

estate planning attorney making a deal

Yanitza Schoonover, an experienced probate lawyer in Miramar, specializes in summary administration, formal administration and estate planning matters.

When a loved one passes away, the family often faces the challenging task of organizing the decedent’s affairs. This process can become time-consuming and confusing, sometimes requiring family members to navigate the probate court system. Probate can be emotionally taxing, time-intensive, and costly. Therefore, it’s essential to enlist the assistance of a skilled Miramar probate attorney who can provide guidance and support throughout this process.

In Florida, there are primarily two types of administrations: Formal Administration and Summary Administration. Summary Administration may be appropriate if the total value of the decedent’s assets subject to probate is $75,000.00 or less, or if the deceased person passed away more than two years before the filing date. However, eligibility for a summary administration doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the best choice.

A Formal Administration is typically necessary when the assets of the deceased person exceed $75,000.00, and the person has been deceased for less than two years. Several factors influence the choice of estate administration, making it important to consult an attorney well-versed in Florida probate to help make this decision. The duration required to complete either estate type can vary significantly.

Your Miramar probate lawyer will handle the preparation of all necessary documents for summary or formal administration. They will guide you through the process, ensuring all requirements are met, and offer assistance during what can be a complex and overwhelming journey.

Miramar Probate & Wills Attorney

Miramar, situated in southern Broward County, Florida, USA, had a population of 134,721 as of the 2020 census. It holds a prominent position within the Miami metropolitan area, a bustling region inhabited by approximately six million people. Miramar was originally established by A.L. Mailman with the intention of serving as a “bedroom community” for nearby Miami and Fort Lauderdale. In 1953, Mailman purchased the initial property for development from H.D. Perry, Sr. On this land, he constructed 56 cost-effective homes made of concrete with flat roofs. These homes sold rapidly due to their affordability, leading to the birth of the city of Miramar.

The city was officially incorporated on May 26, 1955, and it derived its name from the Miramar district in Havana, Cuba, where Mailman had a summer residence (Miramar translates to “look at the sea” in Spanish). At the time of incorporation, the city had fewer than two hundred residents. Miramar’s original city boundaries encompassed approximately 2.9 square miles of land, with Southwest 64 Avenue on the east, University Drive on the west, the Dade County line on the south, and Pembroke Road on the north.

On June 20, 1955, the city witnessed the swearing-in of its first mayor, Robert Gordon, and city council members, all of whom were appointed by the governor and served until January 1959 when the first municipal election was held. Mayor Robert Gordon is credited with naming the city. The city seal proudly bears the motto “Beauty and Progress.”

For Miramar residents in need of probate services, their cases would typically be handled in the Broward County probate court, located in downtown Fort Lauderdale. Despite handling a significant caseload, this court offers user-friendly procedures designed to facilitate timely case resolution.
